Guest Maker

Within our craft gallery we have an exhibition area for an invited artist to show their work for a period of two months. This is an opportunity for Craft in the Bay to exhibit contemporary craft and applied art by non members of the Makers Guild in Wales.

These artists have achieved national and/or international recognition as professional artists and designers within their chosen craft discipline.

James and Tilla Waters
1st February - 31st March 2010

Showcasing the colourful collaboration of ceramics by artists James and Tilla Waters. James works mainly on the throwing of the forms whilst Tilla concentrates on the glaze - recently working on mixing two glazes and seeing how one colour gradually shifts to another.

Their work is largely functional as they enjoy making forms that people can use in every day life. Tilla says of their pots; 'The pots we use regularly never get dusty, their physicality becomes familiar and comforting in daily routines. They require no further justification or explanation.'

Anna Lewis
1st April to 31st May 2010

Anna will be showcasing her jewllery that has been inspired by the symbolic significance of objects in peoples lives, whether they be personal, religious, cultural or universal.

Using themes and imagery from her own collection of family heirlooms, Anna combines materials such as feathers, leather, wood, silver and stones that are printed with delicate traces of memory.
