Although trained in ceramics, the medium of stained glass allows me to create landscape wall panels that are literally “Painted with glass”. Although largely self taught, stained glass has allowed me the freedom to experiment with glass painting, etching and the use of glass beads within my work. Stained glass still calls for a high level of draughtsmanship, together with technical ability which keeps me motivated and inspired.
Much of my work concentrates on landscapes and architecture, and I am especially interested in the shape, pattern and texture that the composition creates. I use a combination of textured and reflective glass to give movement and clarity, together with a careful balance of colours to give my pieces impact and drama. Much of my work depicts the redevelopment of Cardiff Bay with particular interest in the Wales Millennium Centre. The view of Cardiff Bay plays a large part in my life as I have lived overlooking this panoramic view for the last ten years. This landscape is a never ending source of inspiration, whose vibrancy, excitement and redevelopment is providing unlimited scope.
