Angharad Whitfield is an award-winning stained glass artist, creating bespoke commissions and one-off gallery pieces from her fully equipped workshop in the Brecon Beacons. Skilled in all areas of stained glass, including acid-etching, painting, screenprinting and sandblasting, she designs and makes both small and large scale commissions for the home and for public buildings in close collaboration with clients. She also draws on her love of Welsh culture, mythology and storytelling to create smaller figurative and narrative gallery pieces.
Recent exhibitors of her work have included The Eisch Gallery in Frauenau, The Cochrane Gallery in London, The British Glass Biennale, Ely Stained Glass Museum, and The Contemporary Glass Society.
Angharad has also recently launched a very popular range of small personalised stained glass gifts for weddings, christenings and birthdays, available to order through her website.
In 2009 Angharad was awarded first prize in The Stevens Competition for Architectural Glass Design. In 2005 she won The Award For Excellence, given by The Worshipful Company of Glaziers & Painters Of Glass, and in 2004 The Frederick Stewart Memorial Award, given by The Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers. She is a member of the British Society of Master Glass Painters.
