Following a career in management, ceramics and public relations, Bill Swann completed a BA Honours degree in Design, specialising in glass.
The shifting perspectives of time on tide and the effects upon the coast and mountain landscapes around Snowdonia, where Bill has his studio, are reflected in his work of wallhangings and sculptural pieces incorporating slate, glass, and which are exhibited for sale at Craft in the Bay.
Bill has exhibited throughout
Britain
and in
Holland
,
Germany
and
Japan
. He has work in the collection of the Museum of the Arts and Crafts in
Hamburg
,
Germany
.
Public commissions include glass etched screens for the Town Hall in Pwllheli and glass panels and sculpture in the newly constructed Leisure and Community Centre in Porthmadog. Bill carries out public and private commissions working with architects and interior designers on work for internal and external environments.
Bill uses his own technique to work with hot glass in the kiln. His work is made from mouth-blown lead crystal glass and is collaged and kiln worked repeatedly to produce many combinations. His recent work harmonises the textures and tones of both glass and slate.
