I have an affinity to our natural environment that suggests a calm and tranquil inspiration. I have always identified with the gifts of nature, choosing to use only plant dyes and natural fibres. Derived from the world of organic form and growth my work is free flowing, linking the layers of nature and our inner selves. Material combination and manipulation present a refined quality relating to something extra special, in the natural world and our inner selves. Warmth, luxury and comfort; dressing the body and the home with the spirit of nature.
I work alone and where possible use vegetation from, my own, my friends and family gardens. To my continual and immense pleasure I hand pick plants to dye natural fabrics. The colours are relative to the plantation and our natural environment that is made up from the scenic landscape and beautiful back drop of the countryside. I specialise in Nuno-felting techniques combined with fabric manipulation. I work intensely with natural materials gaining an understanding of the characteristics of the natural fibers. My work is intricate, innovative and an enjoyable discipline creating one-off wraps and scarves as wearable art. With attention to the home I create soft furnishings, interior art panels and installation pieces with the key element of beautiful eco-sensitive art.
