James’s experience gained in a career in engineering is reflected in the design of his innovative and cutting-edge jewellery.
He finds inspiration in many and varied places – the shape of off-cut metal (swarf) becomes the design for earrings, the pattern of ribbon is imprinted on silver which in turn becomes a unique piece of jewellery.
He has a fine eye for detail which is shown in the finish of his work which is meticulous and of the highest standard.
He also has an holistic approach to his designs which can be appreciated in his use of certain gemstones used in conjunction with silver. He works mostly with haematite, which has long been known for its healing properties, and is enhanced by the silver setting. Haematite is energising and promotes optimism, willpower and courage, which reflects James’s approach to his work. He is not afraid to experiment, creating designs which are exciting but easy to wear.
