Although I often work in mixed media I am essentially a textile artist producing work of a sculptural nature for interior design as well as fashion items including neckpieces, bags and wraps.
Over the past few years my work has become increasingly process related.  The materials I use, and how they behave, have become vital forces in governing the final outcome of my work.  These pieces become highly charged and emotionally directed.  The outcome is never certain but they have a depth of purpose that comes from within.  The final pieces are certainly subjective but not definitive as they access the individual psyche; and everyone has their own story to tell.
The cyclical nature of things is evident in the construction of many of my pieces.  I enjoy working with synthetics and disperse dyes exploring how memory is accessed and changes through time and circumstance.  The more one concentrates on something the more exaggerated and intense it becomes; it changes according to outside influences, evolving sometimes into something far removed from its birth state.  Layering also features in my work.  Semi-transparent fabrics are used to intensify, deaden, mutate and ambiguously exploit, suggesting underlying connotations.
