I am a designer maker of metal and wire sculpture, inspired by memories of people and places. I use a mixture of metal and which include anodised aluminium, mild steel wire, stainless steel wire, recycled tin, copper wire and found objects.
Pigeon lofts, chapels, churches, houses and inhabitants have become an overpowering obsession. Metal sculptures depict life in a typical welsh valley where I grew up, called, Blaengarw. Excitement rises when I see hand built animal homes, valley housing sheds and any type of structure that serves as a dwelling for man or animal.
Memories of my childhood are quite vivid, small snapshots of time come to me in flashes, triggered by a familiar song, colour or even smell. I think about my mother doing the daily chores around the house. Patterns on the wallpaper, floor coverings and ordinary objects become very personal and meaningful.
