My work as a textile designer is very much an expression of my interest and passion for history. I am fascinated by the past and intrigued by how it often informs and influences the future
My current collection of bags and soft furnishings are all inspired by military history. The designs are developed from personal photographs of formal uniform, combat attire, armoury and medals won for bravery during the Zulu War and World Wars I & II. They are designed to celebrate the courage and bravery of soldiers at war. Thus these practical items transgress their ordinary function and bring meaning into our homes and everyday lives.
I use a variety of 
luxurious fabrics, including wool, leather, suede and velvet, many of which are recycled from local businesses. My techniques include silkscreen print, transfer print, hand and machine stitch, fabric manipulation and embellishment.
My aim is to produce unique sophisticated contemporary designs that demonstrate my ideas and concepts but at the same time display a strong visually aesthetic appeal with a high level of craftsmanship.
