“While continuing to experiment with acrylic  in sheet and rod form, each piece being individually cut or turned on a lathe then finished by hand, I am still looking for new ways of introducing colour and texture. My pewter range has developed from an interest in incorporating more fluid textures into wearable, attractive pieces”.

Modern Pewter is lead free & composed of approx 95% Tin (a very pure sanitary material) approx 4% Antimony (a pure white metal used as a hardening agent) and approx 1% copper (for ductility & malleability). Because of the very low percentage of oxidising copper (unlike silver which contains 7.5% copper), pewter does not require chemical cleaning. Tarnishing should only occur very slowly.

To clean pewter, use dry cotton wool with whitening cream tooth polish then rinse off with hot water & dry with a tissue. Do not use metal polish or you may discolour the surface.

Earwires are made from sterling silver wire and may need rubbing over with a silver cloth from time to time.
