Nicola is an award winning jeweller who originates from Neath. She studied at the School of Jewellery in the heart of Birmingham¹s Jewellery Quarter; this is where she began developing her distinctive style.
On leaving University with a strong sense of design, she began her career in a Welsh Gold company where she remained for nearly five years, producing designs for European Royalty and a variety of media personalities. Setting up her own business in 1998 was a natural progression, opening her gallery in the historical market town of Dolgellau.
She has recently re-located to the Neath area, setting up a studio/workshop in the village of Bryncoch. She mainly works to commission and likes the idea of being involved with a piece from concept through to completion.  The notion of working with an individual to design a piece unique to themselves is quite special to her.
Nicola¹s designs are constantly evolving, although there is a definite style to her work.  Her strong simplistic forms combining contrasting surface textures and finishes in all precious metals often incorporate precious and semi-precious stones. Much of her work is of complex construction with moving parts.  Her current range of work comprises of six collections, largely influenced by her surroundings, whether it be in the literal sense by the use of the Welsh slate and Welsh jasper or in the natural forms around her. The aim is to produce visually engaging work whilst being tactile and wearable.
