Riitta was first introduced to weaving by her grandmother. Later on she went on to study for a BA in design and woven textiles. She moved to Pembrokeshire after meeting her welsh husband.

Riitta’s work is a unique reflection of her Finnish background and her love of the beautiful landscape of her adopted home. Her colours echo the seasonal changes in the landscape and light. Her work varies from rugs, wall hangings and framed pictures to colourful table linen and scarves. She dyes the colours especially for each peace making them unique and unrepeatable. Linen is her speciality.

Riitta has been commissioned to produce work for many public places as well as private clients. She has also been involved in recreating historic fabrics for several museums. In 2003 she was commissioned to weave the fine line fabric used to make the rochet for Rowan Williams for his enthronement as the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Riitta also runs courses in all aspects of her craft and has been artist in residence in several schools helping children to produce individual and collective pieces of work.
