These works are part of an ongoing series, which consider aspects of my Welsh 'Identity' and the use of the Welsh language through the generations of my family.
Current work also draws from personal responses to motherhood; observing relationships and emotions and the beauty of a child's simple drawings; their awareness of space and composition.
Working directly; letting it grow and develop intuitively and spontaneously, I use machine stitch, where dense layers are built up, completely covering background fabric, achieving subtle variations in colour and tone in a free and expressive way.
The diverse qualities of mark-making produced by painting, drawing and writing are all considered in stitch.
