  • See craft work by professional artists
Student groups can see first hand a range of craft work and learn about the Makers Guild in Wales.
The Guild's gallery, Craft in the Bay, shows the work of its members as well as hosting national and international exhibitions of applied art.
With the emphasis in the National Curriculum on the study of work by local artists, students can see a range of exceptional craft work such as ceramics, fused glass, jewellery and textiles.
Written Information on the artists can be provided

  • Take part in a practical workshop
We have two workshops that can be used to host practical workshops in specialist areas.
Many of the artists who exhibit at Craft in the Bay are experienced in teaching their chosen specialism and can be booked to run workshops geared to different levels and abilities.
This represents a fantastic opportunity for both students and teachers to learn new skills that can be developed further in the classroom.

  • Lectures and Demonstrations
Craft in the Bay often hosts practical demonstrations within the exhibition area, in specialist techniques such as spinning, wood-turning and basket making.
With prior booking, short talks by Makers can be arranged to support a school/college visit. Topics include bespoke furniture, jewellery, ceramics, glass and textiles.

  • Outreach projects with schools and colleges
You may prefer to have practical activities within your school/college, either following a visit to Craft in the Bay or independently of any gallery visit. We offer short or long-term residencies.

  • Professional Development Opportunities
Our Professional Development days for teachers have been extremely successful and provide a unique opportunity to learn new skills that can be applied in the classroom.
We can offer teachers a range of workshops that are targeted at specific age groups. These include felt making, ceramics, slip decoration and recycled jewellery.
A charge may be made for practical activities such as workshops, demonstrations and lectures.
Teachers are invited to get in touch with the Education Officer to discuss project proposal or gallery visits.
