Wool Works textiles workshop with Alison Moger
Sunday 27th October
10:30 - 16:30Alison will begin with a demonstration of free stitching with a sewing machine. She will base the workshop around folklore and legends so you are invited to bring along any images, poems or short stories that are familiar to you and from which you can base your design. Alison will help you with stitching techniques to create a personally stitched textile work ready to be framed.
Please note that each person should have a sewing machine that is able to drop the feed dogs and have a quilting foot attachment. It is a good idea to bring along a sketch book or paper and pencils to make quick sketches of ideas before starting the stitched piece. Ideally you should bring a square piece of reasonable weight linen, wool, calico or cotton about 12x12inches or more for the background, along with sewing threads and needles, also fabrics that have sentimental value or an interest to them. (Alison will have fabric available on the day for a small charge) also sewing hoop if you would rather work on the machine in this way.
Suitable for all levels but should know how to use a sewing machine.
