Tuesday 1st October 2019
10:30 - 16:30
Are you familiar with the ancient handicraft technique called nålbinding (Danish name)? It is a fabric creation technique believed to predate both knitting and crochet. Also known in English as "knotless netting," "knotless knitting or single needle knitting. Popular in the Scandinavian countries and the Balkans it is a technique used to make mittens, socks and hats but can be adapted to other items of clothing and accessories.
The Makers Guild Wales is delighted to be able to offer you this fascinating workshop led by two of our guest exhibitors from Finland, textile artists Sirpa Morsky and Saija Lehtonen. They will show and guide you through the process of starting your work, adding and reducing stitches so that you feel confident in continuing with your work at home.
All materials will be provided and you will have the opportunity to purchase a nålbinding needle if you wish on the day.
