Bobbin Lace with Symone Pain
Saturday 23rd November
10:30 - 16:30
Try your hand at the historical craft of lacemaking in this workshop for beginners. Bobbin Lace is a hand-crafted textile art created by weaving threads using bobbins on a lace maker’s pillow.
You will discover the origins of bobbin lace, how to set-up a lace pillow and prepare bobbins by threading for lace making. You will be shown how to construct the core stitches in lace making, and receive one-to-one support and guidance to create your own Torchon Ground lace sampler.
All specialist lace making equipment and threads will be provided. You will need to bring steel/metal pins and a pair of fabric scissors, or thread snips. Other additional useful equipment to bring along, if you have them, are a pin cushion and pearl headed pins.
