Drawing with Nature - Amanda Blake
Saturday 30th November
11:00 - 16:00
Introduction to working with natural raw materials from traditional, ancient painting and drawing techniques.
The day will include an artist’s talk and introduction to particular materials used in traditional painting and drawing techniques, including egg tempera, gesso and fresco. Exploring their natural luminosity and richly tactile qualities and how they can be used in observational, experimental and conceptual ways to deepen our connection with Nature and the land.
The afternoon workshop will involve working with materials such as Oak Gall ink, natural rock Sinopia and pigments, Silverpoint and Graphite on natural gesso grounds and handmade khadi paper. Participants will also come away with knowledge and recipes for making their own inks and mediums for furthering their use and understanding of these materials.
Would suit artists and those interested who have experience of drawing, painting or making. No prior experience of gesso or the materials needed.
Participants to bring own sketchbooks, watercolour brushes and pencils.
