MEET OUR MAKERS

SU THOMPSON

ceramicist  / Gwneuthurwr Cerameg

Mandy Nash
Inspired by the coastline and its surrounding landscape, Su throws stoneware vessels defined by open planes. Onto these surfaces, she works with crystalline glazes, applying carefully tested layers that respond to the orientation of each form.

Using this fluid and responsive glaze, she discovers patterns through crystal formation, shaped by colour and chemistry on this developing surface. Informed by the way light catches the ripple of water or the breeze through grasses, her work reflects the transient patterns found in nature.

Capturing a sense of place through movement, change and growth. Her works seeks to evoke place, not as a fixed image, but as a living surface where landscape, light and process meet.
