BEVERLEY BELL HUGHES
31 July - 26 SEPTEMBER 2021
Tidal Echoes presents a new body of work by potter and Makers Guild Wales member Beverley Bell Hughes. A Ruthin Craft Centre initiated exhibition, we are delighted to be able to bring Bev's work to our audiences at Craft in the Bay.
Beverley has been a member of the Guild since 1992 and has exhibited nationally and internationally, having work in many private and public art collections. In 2019 she was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal for Craft at the National Eisteddfodd. Beverley works from her home that is ideally placed just five minutes drive from Conwy Bay - the inspiration for her sculptural ceramics. The tidal marks left by the receding sea, the barnacled shrouded boulders and beechcombed shells and pebbles observed on her daily walks, become translated into sculptural forms through her skillfull manipulation of the clay.
A brochure, with essay by Jane Audas has been produced by Ruthin Craft Centre and will be available online.
We apologise for the delay in bringing Beverley's exhibition Tidal Echoes to you at Craft in the Bay. Originally planned to show in January/February this year we have had to delay our events programming in light of the pandemic and regional lockdowns. The summer will hopefully bring us healthier and safer weeks for us to enjoy the exhibition. Where possible we will also be offering pottery workshops (online or within our workshop areas). Updates on this will be added to our workshop page.
