MEET OUR MAKERS

DANIEL BOYLE

Ceramicist / Gwneuthurwr Cerameg

Mandy Nash
Simple forms with a sculptural element enhanced with a touch of fire.
My work is one-off functional ware – things to be used. Every part of the making process contributes to the work I produce. The throwing and turning marks, the wadding shadows and the fluid textured glaze I produce using a wood fired salt kiln with all its variations as the path of the fire weaves its way through the kiln.
The slips I use highlight where the flame has touched the pots causing running and movement - producing glazes reflecting landscapes and creating finishes to be explored beyond their surface.
//
Mae pob rhan o’r broses o wneud yn cyfrannu at y gwaith yr wyf yn ei gynhyrchu.
Mae’r marciau taflu a throi, y cysgodion wadin a’r gwydredd gweadog y rwyf yn creu wrth ddefnyddio odyn halen lle mae'r tan yn creu amrywiadau o liwiau yn bwysig i mi. Mae'r slipiau y rwyf yn eu defnyddio yn amlygu lle mae'r fflam wedi cyffwrdd y potiau gan achosi rhedeg a symudiad. Mae'r rhain wedyn yn cynhyrchu sglein sy'n adlewyrchu'r tirlun.

Darnau defnyddiol ac unigol ydy fy ngwaith i - pethau i'w defnyddio, Ffurfiau syml gydag elfen gerfluniol sydd cyfoethogi â thân.
