TARA DEAN - Printmaker
Sunday 4th August, 12pm FREE Meet the Maker Talk - Tara is visiting Craft in the Bay from N.Wales to share with us her approaches to printmaking and demonstrate some of the printing techniques. No booking required, just turn up! All welcome! Printmaking Workshop You may also be interested in joining Tara for a two hour workshop running from 2 - 4pm the same day (4th August). A chance to create a screen printed card/mini print. Also exploring stencils & layering colours. To book please visit our online shop. |

25th May Kim Colebrook - demonstrated the techniques used to create her exquisite porcelain vessels and sculptures.
11th May 2024 Lynda Shell - spoke about her latest collection of bags & purses created using offcuts from her screenprinted linen designs.

15th April 2024 at the Senedd, Cardiff Bay. Martin Weatherhead talking about his tapestry Peredur currently on show at the Senedd.
24th February 2024 Laura Thomas - Laura gave a talk about her exhibition Woven/Unwoven showing at Craft in the Bay. A fascinating insight into her 20 years of contemporary textile practice.
2nd December 2023 Angharad Pearce Jones - Book Launch & Talk
24th October 2023 - Rebecca Oldfield, Cardiff based Jeweller and Silversmith was talking about her jewellery and her silversmithing which was on display in our current exhibition with Rauni Higson.
9th September 2023 Rauni Higson Rauni gave a Walk and Talk around her amazing Silversmithing work in her exhibition
4th July 2023 11am, Jodie Hook , Jeweller , Jodie creates detailed jewellery using silver and gold, Jodie talked through some of her collection of gemstones and how she designs bespoke pieces for her clients.
Tuesday 1st August at 11am Jill Riley weaver Jill is inspired by the natural environment, landscapes and the Weather, her current exhibition is titled "Weather Patterns", and feature a series of 12 pieces, each reflecting the huge extremes that featured in 2022, from the winds of February to the scorchingly dry summer. Jill talked about her work and inspirations.
Tuesday 6th June at 11am, Susan Smith, Embroiderer, Sue talked about her current emroidery pieces featuring Welsh Chapels, some still in use, others often abandoned and neglected, all of which she finds as inspiration for her beautifully intricate pieces of embroidery.
Monday 15th May at 10.30am, Verity Pulford, Glass Artist , award winning glass artist and curator of our current exhibition, Uncommon Beauty, Gave a talk through her work and the artists featured in the exhibition.
Ruth Shelley , Glass Artist, Cardiff based award winning glass artist, Ruth talked about her career and recent inspirational trip to Uzbekistan.
Ann Catrin Evans internationally renowned Sculptor and Jeweller. gave a talk through her career to date , her most prominent commission is here in Cardiff Bay - the bronze and aluminium handles throughout the Wales Millennium Centre. She has a strong relationship with the WMC having made the ceremonial Opening Key also.
Stuart Neale of Sioni Rhys Handweavers gave an inspirational talk about his weaving career and some fascinating facts about the history of weaving too.
Walk and Talk around our Exhibition, Clay - Canvas, with many of the Artists and Ceramicists were on hand to talk about their wonderful work.
'A History of Craft in the Bay' , by former project manager Ron Adam, as part of the relaunch of our Friends Scheme, and to celebrate the 20th Anniverssary of The Guild fundraising and re-opening our unique Grade II listed Building, The Guild's project mangager at that time gave a short talk about how the Makers Guild managed to secure the future of our unique home. Come along and learn more about our Friends Scheme and our unique building!
