REBECCA OLDFIELD

jeweller / gemydd

Picture
Rebecca is a multi-award-winning designer, jeweller and silversmith based in Cardiff; Creating her works from The Creative Coach House - a communal studio space founded by Rebecca in 2021. A background in design and manufacture, Bishopsland Educational Trust Fellow and honours graduate from Cardiff School of Art & Design, Rebecca has the ability to, as a maker, utilise a wide variety of processes to achieve her designs, often creating her own tools in wood and metal to construct and decorate her pieces.
Her versatile approach to how objects is made allow Rebecca to be truly creative and produce precious pieces of jewellery, silverware for the home and bespoke client commissions.
Rebecca’s designs are inspired by a method of material and process exploration whilst considering notions, styles, and artefacts from the past. Recently Rebecca has been examining patterns and structures found within microscopic imagery and exploring how to expose these hidden details into her work through texture and surface decoration. She aims to create beautiful collections that can be worn every day, but last forever and dreams that one day her wares will either be unearthed, treasured, or placed in a museum to inspire future generations as previous have inspired her.
//
Mae Rebecca yn ddylunydd, gemydd a gof arian sydd wedi ennill nifer o wobrau yng Nghaerdydd; Mae’n creu ei gweithiau o’r  ‘Creative Coach House’ - gofod stiwdio gymunedol a sefydlwyd gan Rebecca yn 2021. Gyda chefndir mewn dylunio a gweithgynhyrchu, Cymrawd Ymddiriedolaeth Addysg Bishopsland a gradd anrhydedd o Ysgol Celf a Dylunio Caerdydd, mae gan Rebecca y gallu, fel gwneuthurwr i ddefnyddio amrywiaeth eang o brosesau i gyflawni ei dyluniadau, gan greu ei hoffer ei hun mewn pren a metel i adeiladu ac addurno ei darnau yn aml.
Mae ei dull amryddawn o wneud gwrthrychau yn caniatáu i Rebecca fod yn wirioneddol greadigol a chynhyrchu darnau gwerthfawr o emwaith, llestri arian ar gyfer y cartref a chomisiynau cleient pwrpasol. Mae dyluniadau Rebecca wedi’u hysbrydoli gan ddull o archwilio deunydd a phroses wrth ystyried syniadau, arddulliau ac arteffactau o’r gorffennol.
Yn ddiweddar mae Rebecca wedi bod yn archwilio patrymau a strwythurau a geir o fewn delweddau microsgopig ac yn archwilio sut i ddatgelu'r manylion cudd hyn i'w gwaith trwy wead ac addurniadau arwyneb.  Ei nod yw creu casgliadau hardd y gellir eu gwisgo bob dydd, ond sy'n para am byth ac mae'n breuddwydio y bydd ei nwyddau un diwrnod yn cael eu dadorchuddio, eu trysori, neu eu gosod mewn amgueddfa i ysbrydoli cenedlaethau'r dyfodol fel y mae o'r blaen wedi ei hysbrydoli.
