MARGARET HANSFORD

​WEAVER

About

Weaving silk or cashmere or a combination of both, Margaret produces scarves and stoles, which are often hand dyed, using ikat methods and natural dyes to obtain soft earth colours. She also weaves landscape and other subject matter tapestries.Much of her knowledge had been obtained from specialist courses, e.g. Ikat Weaving with Mary Restieux, Shibori Dyeing with Sarah Gallifant, Tapestry with Bobbie Cox and Pat Johns and Moorman Technique with the late Theo Moorman.

She holds the Bradford Diploma in Handloom Weaving, is honorary secretary of the Makers Guild in Wales, a director of Makers Guild in Wales Ltd and Vice President of the Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers (UK).
