About
Ruth Thomas has co-curated our Hedfanol exhibition of contemporary print, showing in the gallery from 10th June. Her beautiful prints of birds can be seen in the exhibition. Come and learn more about this wonderful process and see Ruth demonstrate her Printmaking skills combining stencil printing and monoprinting from feathers.
Ruth will demonstrate:
Starting in the gallery looking around the current exhibition ‘Hedfanol: Contemporary original prints of birds and other winged creatures’, in particular Ruth’s work using stencils and feathers to create images of birds.
Stencil techniques are one of the oldest and simplest methods of making prints. At the demonstration you will have the opportunity to see her create a composition or design of bird silhouettes. A selection of photographs of birds will be on display.
Ruth will use a roller to ink the feathers, combined with the stencil - then printing using a portable etching press to create a striking image of birds!
