REBECCA BURT

jeweller / gemydd

Mandy Nash
Rebecca Burt is a jewellery designer/maker from Cardiff creating fine designer jewellery. She works predominantly in sterling silver, with little highlights of 9 and 18ct gold, precious and semi precious stones.
Her jewellery is inspired by a curiosity with the world she sees around her, creating little abstractions of the bounty of life that grows around us. Each piece is individually hand formed, allowing them to have their own individual features and characteristics, mirroring nature’s organic creation. Having originally studied Textile Design at university this can be seen in her approach to metal work, building up a surface much as you would embellish a piece of fabric.
Rebecca has recently completed a fellowship from Bishopsland Educational Trust in August 2017 where she did a residential year of developing her skills and designs. Upon concluding this Rebecca moved back to Cardiff to launch her business, where she now keeps a studio at Red Door Studios, Pontcanna.

Mae Rebecca Burt yn ddylunydd / gwneuthurwr gemwaith o Gaerdydd sy’n dylunio a chreu gemwaith cain. Mae hi'n gweithio'n bennaf mewn arian sterling, gyda darnau bach o aur 9 a 18ct, cerrig gwerthfawr a lled-werthfawr.
Mae ei gemwaith yn cael ei ysbrydoli gan chwilfrydedd gyda'r byd y mae'n ei weld o'i chwmpas, gan greu tyniadau bach o’r bywyd sy'n tyfu o'n cwmpas. Mae pob darn wedi'i ffurfio â llaw yn unigol, gan ganiatáu iddynt gael eu nodweddion unigol eu hunain, gan adlewyrchu cread organig natur. Ar ôl astudio Tecstilau yn y brifysgol yn wreiddiol, gellir gweld hyn yn ei hymagwedd tuag at waith metel, gan adeiladu arwyneb yn debyg i sut y byddech yn addurno darn o ffabrig.
Yn ddiweddar, mae Rebecca wedi cwblhau cymrodoriaeth gan Ymddiriedolaeth Addysg Bishopsland ym mis Awst 2017 lle bu'n treulio blwyddyn breswyl yn datblygu ei sgiliau a'i dyluniadau. Ar ôl i’r cyfnod ddod i ben, fe aeth Rebecca yn ôl i Gaerdydd i lansio ei busnes, ble mae ganddi erbyn hyn stiwdio yn y Red Door Studios, Pontcanna.
