My work reflects my Finnish past and my love of the beautiful landscape of Pembrokeshire. I like to explore traditional weaves and techniques to create contemporary textiles, both functional and decorative. Linen is my speciality but I also use other fibres like silk, wool, cotton, viscose and paper.
I am passionate about creating colours that echo seasonal changes in landscape and light. The colours can be dyed for a special piece in mind or the dyed yarns can themselves provide an inspiration for a design. The dyes might also be used as paints on the warp before weaving or on the finished piece. |
