SASHA KINGSTON

Paper & Textile Artist / Artist Papur & Tecstiliau

Mandy Nash
During my M.A. course and since graduating from the Royal College of Art, London I have been drawn to and inspired by the process of paper-making as a material in textile art constructions. My understanding and love of paper as a creative artistic medium has grown immensely with the range of possible visual and tactile qualities paper provides, stimulating my imagination.

During the creative process, working intuitively, new images emerge from the paper itself. My work continues to develop and be inspired by the drawn mark, print and stitch. Documenting ideas through photography and drawings in sketchbooks, exploring the coastal geology, rock strata, geographical contours, rhythms and cycles of nature have led to a new body of work.

Yn ystod fy nghwrs M.A. ac ers graddio o'r Coleg Celf Frenhinol, Llundain rwyf wedi cael fy nenu ac wedi fy ysbrydoli gan y broses o wneud papur fel deunydd cystrawennau celf tecstilau. Mae fy nealltwriaeth a’m cariad at bapur fel cyfrwng artistig creadigol wedi tyfu’n aruthrol gyda’r ystod o rinweddau gweledol a chyffyrddol posibl y mae papur yn eu darparu, gan ysgogi fy nychymyg.

Yn ystod y broses greadigol, gan weithio'n reddfol, mae delweddau newydd yn dod i'r amlwg o'r papur ei hun. Mae fy ngwaith yn parhau i ddatblygu a chael fy ysbrydoli gan y marc, y print a'r pwyth wedi'i dynnu. Mae dogfennu syniadau trwy ffotograffiaeth a lluniadau mewn llyfrau braslunio, archwilio daeareg arfordirol, strata creigiau, cyfuchliniau daearyddol, rhythmau a chylchoedd natur wedi arwain at gorff newydd o waith.
