SHIRLEY JONES

​Writer of books / Gwneuthurwr Llyfrau

Mandy Nash
Born and brought up in the Rhondda, Shirley Jones, artist, writer, and printer has produced 28 Artist Books in which she illustrates her poems, prose pieces and translations with mezzotints or etchings, printing the text letterpress. Ninety Rare Book Libraries in Europe and North America have acquired her work. Solo exhibitions include the V & A Museum, National Library of Wales and the Newport Museum and Gallery.

The collection of Shirley Jones's Artist Books, founder of The Red Hen Press, is now housed at the Special Collections and Archives at Cardiff Univerisity and open to all by appointment. 


Shirley is a honorary member of the Makers Guild in Wales.

Fel arlunydd, ysgrifennydd ac argraffydd, mae wedi cynhyrchu 26 Llyfr Arlunio sy'n dangos ei cherddi, darnau rhyddiaith a chyfieithiadau a'i mesotintiau neu ysgythriadau. Mae ei gwaith mewn Nawdeg o Lyfrgelloedd Llyfrau Anghyffredin yn Ewrop a Gogledd America. Mae ei gwaith wedi cael ei arddangos yn Amgueddfa'r V ac A, Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru ac Amgueddfa a Galeri Casnewydd.
