SIONI RHYS HANDWEAVERS

weaver / GWEHYDd

Mandy Nash
In a studio situated at the edge of the Black Mountains in North Gwent, Sioni Rhys Handweavers create traditional Welsh patterned bed covers in pure new wool. Sioni Rhys Handweavers also produce very fine lightweight accessories in a variety of natural luxury fibres, which co-ordinate with the Cartheni to reflect the vibrant sense of pattern that is the hallmark of Celtic sensibility. Sioni Rhys Handweavers is a partnership of designer and weaver, producing fashion textiles and woollen throws. Dennis Mulcahy, designer, was born in Aberbargoed and graduated from Newport College of Art. Stuart Neale, weaver, originally from Cardiff, qualified at the Scottish College of Textiles in Galashiels. They have taken part in many exhibitions and their textiles have gone all over the world.

Mewn stiwdio wedi'i lleoli ar fin y Mynydd Du yng Ngogledd Gwent, mae Gwehyddwyr Sioni Rhys yn creu carthenni gyda phatrymau Cymreig traddodiadol allan o wlân pur newydd. Mae Gwehyddwyr Sioni Rhys hefyd yn cynhyrchu ategolion ysgafn mân allan o ffibrau moethus naturiol sy'n cydlynu a charthenni i adlewyrchu ymdeimlad bywiog o batrwm sy’n nod amgen o’r synhwyred Celtaidd. Mae Sioni Rhys Handweavers yn bartneriaeth o ddylunydd a gwehydd, sy’n cynhyrchu tecstilau ffasiynol a charthenni gwlân. Mae Dennis Mulcahy, y dylunydd, wedi cael ei eni yn Aberbargod a graddiodd o Goleg Celf Casnewydd. Mae Stuart Neale, y gwehydd, yn wreiddiol o Gaerdydd, ac wedi cymhwyso yng Ngholeg Tecstilau'r Alban yn Galashiels. Maent wedi cymryd rhan mewn nifer o arddangosfeydd ac maent wedi dangos eu tecstilau dros y byd i gyd.
