TOM CLARK

Tom Clark began working in stone in 1974, first as a monumental mason and then as an ecclesiastical mason serving an apprenticeship at Chichester Cathedral . Tom became self- employed in 1981 and over the years Tom worked on many large and interesting restoration projects.

Tom began his own sculptural work in the early 1990s alongside his restoration work. His travels to India ,Egypt and other places around the world were an inspiration. He has always had an interest in medieval art and stonework but also has been influenced by people such as Eric Gill.  His work is mainly figurative with a narrative.

Dechreuodd Tom Clark weithio mewn carreg ym 1974, yn gyntaf fel saer maen coffaol ac yna fel saer maen eglwysig yn gwasanaethu prentisiaeth yn Eglwys Gadeiriol Chichester. Daeth Tom yn hunangyflogedig ym 1981 a dros y blynyddoedd bu Tom yn gweithio ar lawer o brosiectau adfer mawr a diddorol.

Dechreuodd Tom Clark ei waith cerfluniol ei hun yn gynnar yn y 1990au ochr yn ochr â'i waith adfer. Roedd ei deithiau i India, yr Aifft a lleoedd eraill ledled y byd yn ysbrydoliaeth. Mae ganddo ddiddordeb mewn celf ganoloesol a gwaith cerrig ond mae pobl fel Eric Gill wedi dylanwadu arno hefyd. Mae ei waith yn ffigurol yn bennaf gyda naratif.
