MEET OUR MAKERS

Timothy Gwyn John

Furniture Maker / Gwneuthurwr Celfi

Timothy Gwyn John's practice has been one which has evolved from an art based practice to one which is engaged in achieving a standard of excellence in the making of objects, predominantly furniture.
‘Through the process of making, the engagement with materials and the realisation of ideas I ask myself questions of what ‘craft’ is and its importance in contemporary culture.’
His journey to becoming a craftsperson has been about striving to achieve excellence in his work through making objects that provoke thought, sometimes a smile or just simply a table or a bench to be enjoyed.
//
Mae gwaith Timothy Gwyn John wedi bod yn un sydd wedi esblygu o arfer celf i un sy'n ymwneud â chyflawni rhagoriaeth wrth wneud gwrthrychau, dodrefn yn bennaf.
"Trwy’r broses o greu, yr ymgysylltu â deunyddiau a gwireddu syniadau rwy’n gofyn cwestiynau i mi fy hun beth yw‘ crefft ’a’i bwysigrwydd mewn diwylliant cyfoes."
Mae ei daith o ddod yn grefftwr wedi ymwneud ag ymdrechu i gyflawni rhagoriaeth yn ei waith trwy wneud gwrthrychau sy'n ennyn meddwl, weithiau'n wên neu’n fwrdd neu fainc i'w fwynhau.
