VOICES FROM THE EDGE: MURMURATIONS

This exhibition encompasses the works of five visual artists who have spent two years working with residents of care homes across Wales as part of Age Cymru's cARTrefu programme.  Each artist created a nurturing environment where residents felt relaxed and encouraged to share fond memories and forgotten stories.

Through responding to this unique interaction, the artists were able to connect with the older people, some of whom live with dementia. As a direct result of this connection the artists were inspired to develop their practice and create work which expressed the sensitivity and fragility of these shared experiences, capturing and amplifying the past glories of the people they met.

The spectrum of works in the exhibition is very broad, yet there is a common thread - to showcase the experiences of the older people - creating a wider audience and challenging society's assumption of older age.
