BEVERLEY BELL HUGHES
31 July - 26 SEPTEMBER 2021
Tidal Echoes presents a new body of work by potter and Makers Guild Wales member Beverley Bell Hughes. A Ruthin Craft Centre initiated exhibition, we are delighted to be able to bring Beverley's work to our audiences at Craft in the Bay.
Tidal Echoes is displayed in the gallery alongside fellow guild member Verity Pulford who is exhibiting her stunning collection of contemporary glass - also a Ruthin Craft Centre initiated exhibition.
Beverley Bell Hughes has been a member of the Guild since 1992 and has exhibited nationally and internationally, having work in many private and public art collections. In 2019 she was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal for Craft at the National Eisteddfodd. Beverley works from her home that is ideally placed just five minutes drive from Conwy Bay - the inspiration for her sculptural ceramics. The tidal marks left by the receding sea, the barnacled shrouded boulders and beechcombed shells and pebbles observed on her daily walks, become translated into sculptural forms through her skillfull manipulation of the clay.
A brochure, with essay by Jane Audas has been produced by Ruthin Craft Centre. Free copies are available from the gallery. You can also view it here.

Mae 'Tidal Echoes' yn cyflwyno casgliad newydd o waith gan y crochenydd ac aelod Urdd Gwneuthurwyr Cymru, Beverley Bell Hughes. Fel arddangosfa a gychwynnwyd gan Ganolfan Grefftau Rhuthun, rydym yn falch iawn o allu dod â gwaith Bev i'n cynulleidfaoedd yng Nghrefft yn y Bae.
Mae Beverley wedi bod yn aelod o’r Urdd ers 1992 ac wedi arddangos yn genedlaethol ac yn rhyngwladol, gyda gwaith mewn llawer o gasgliadau celf breifat a chyhoeddus. Yn 2019 dyfarnwyd y Fedal Aur iddi am Grefft yn yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol. Mae Beverley yn gweithio o'i chartref sydd mewn lleoliad delfrydol pum munud mewn car o Fae Conwy - yr ysbrydoliaeth ar gyfer ei cherameg gerfluniol. Mae marciau llanw a adewir gan y môr, y clogfeini cysgodol barnacled a'r cregyn ffawyddog a'r cerrig mân a welir ar ei theithiau cerdded beunyddiol, yn cael eu trosi i ffurfiau cerfluniol trwy ei thrin medrus o'r clai.
Mae pamffled, gyda thraethawd gan Jane Audas wedi'i gynhyrchu gan Ganolfan Grefftau Rhuthun. Bydd copïau ar gael yn ystod yr arddangosfa. Gallwch hefyd ei weld yma.
