handprinted purse workshop

Picture
Tutor: Lynda Shell
Saturday 23rd September 2023

10:30 - 16:30
£85 (Friends discount £76.50)

A fabulous day of learning how to create your own block printed zip purse with  textile artist and Makers Guild Wales members, Lynda Shell. During the day Lynda will show you how to experiment and explore some of the basic principles of pattern repeat and placement. After some practice you will then be ready to print your pattern onto beautiful pre-cut linen cloth. There will be an array of coloured linens available and a wide choice of printing paste colours including gold and silver, so you can really get creative!
Once the prints are dry lynda will take you step by step through the process of making a simple zipped purse. Don’t be frightened of the zip, it’s simpler than you think!  By the end of the day you will have designed, printed and made a very unique little purse to be proud of. You will also have gained some skills to continue experimenting at home.
Basic experience using a sewing machine will be useful but not absolutely necessary. There are sewing machines available at Craft in the Bay or you are welcome to bring your own.
There is a loading bay at the rear of the building for dropping off your machine. Please see here for details of how to get to us.
Advance booking is required. Places are limited to five so early booking is recommended.
