molly curley
21 August - 22 September 2019
A very special Focus on a Maker exhibition this summer, celebrating the pottery of one of the guild's founder members, Molly Curley. Since taking early retirement from Cardiff High School Molly has been busy developing her career as a potter since the mid 80's. She has specialised in wheel thrown domestic ware, mostly decorated with liquid clay (slips) and fired in an electric kiln.
Visitors to the Makers Guild Wales gallery, Craft in the Bay will be familiar with her pottery and may even have been lucky enough to be redeeming one of her unique hand made gift vouchers!
Molly will this year be retiring from from making her pottery and so we invite you to come and see and buy her work from current and past collections.

Back in 2016 we took part in Heritage Lottery Fund project led by VCS Cymru. The Chronicle Project was a community heritage project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and run by VCS Cymru with the aims to document the history of volunteering in Cardiff, from 1914 to 2014. We want to build on these oral histories to create a digital archive, which can be used as a unique educational resource.
Here is an oral history interview with Molly Curley, a founding member of The Makers Guild in Wales, that took place on 18 September 2016.
