The Makers Guild in Wales is one of Wales' largest craft galleries and membership organisations. It was set up in 1984 as a maker co-operative and still retains that ethos today.
The Guild operates an annual selection process each year with a closing date is the 1st March. Who should apply The Crafts and the Applied Arts cover such a wide and ever evolving range of disciplines that it is impossible to list them all, however we welcome applications from any maker living and working in Wales who is personally involved in the design and creation of their craft and/or applied art. We're seeking applications from UK-based makers for our annual Open Summer show.
Myths & Legends - This year's theme is inspired by the national campaign within Wales to celebrate the Year of Legends. We invite applications from artists and makers across the UK to show their work at our Cardiff gallery. Our focus is on contemporary craft and applied art that shows individuality and innovation in the maker's approach to the work, a technical mastery of the medium and a sense of design. Selected by a guest panel of art professionals - we have extended our earlier publicised deadline to 31st May 2017 You may already create work inspired by myths and/or legends - but if not then this is a chance to explore the rich source material available! We are asking makers to submit up to three pieces of work. If selected you would then be invited to show one or more of these pieces in the Summer Show. Please email [email protected] for full details or download the application form HERE. Deadline for applications is 31 May 2017. |
