You may have noticed a lot of building work going on around Craft in the Bay recently. This is because we are undertaking an exciting programme of energy efficiency measures in order to lower our Carbon Emissions and provide the Guild with a sustainable long term energy solution. Initially, an approach was made to Resource Efficient Wales - who funded an in depth Energy Efficiency report which was undertaken by ENICA Ltd. This report reviewed the energy efficiency of Craft in the Bay and provide a detailed report of specific achievable beneficial outcomes. The project was then divided into two entirely separate elements. Firstly, a Photo Voltaic Solar project, delivered and installed by GB-Solar - this project was very generously funded by The Garfield Weston Foundation and the British Airways Carbon Fund (managed by Pure Leapfrog) this will be installed in September 2016. The next strand is to deliver a LED lighting system in the gallery along with an improved heating and cooling system. This will lead to further reductions in energy consumption and a reduced Carbon Footprint. This will be funded by the Arts Council of Wales Lottery Capital Programme , this strand will be installed in January 2017. Once completed it is estimated that Craft in the Bay will lower its carbon output by nearly 11 tons a year. We will also lower our energy consumption considerably, thereby releasing more funds to enable it to achieve our Charitable Objectives.
