COMMUNICATION LOCKDOWN
3RD SEPTEMBER - 22ND NOVEMBER 2020
Communication Lockdown is an exhibition of textile work curated by artist and Makers Guild Wales member, Harriett Chapman.
It is a project that has grown over recent months from a shared lockdown textile activity with her students in Aberaeron; sending them in the post a pack of pre-cut fabrics with which to create a fabric collage page for the textile book. Her students thoroughly enjoyed the collage work and were excited to see the completed books assembled.
Harriett extended this idea of a community textile book to invite a small group of artists to each make their own 'lockdown page'. The individual styles of each maker shines through in the completed pages, all having their own identity and reflecting personal thoughts on their lockdown experience. Print, fabric collage, hand and machine stitch - each piece a fascinating artwork in its own right.
Exhibiting Artists:
Harriett Chapman, Alison Moger, Ruth Harries, Jenny Lee Katz, Julia Griffiths Jones, Stephanie Tuckwell, Sharon Williams, Sharon Cooper
